Everything has come to a screeching halt for many businesses and families.

In this time of uncertainty, we are working from home as much as possible to keep our businesses going. Not having an open store can be a very scary time for a small business. Finding a way for your business to stay visible can be important, but what should you be posting? I see some businesses posting as usual, which can work for some businesses, but not for all.

Here are a few ideas to help you brainstorm what to post.

  Live Stream

Do you have a space people might like to see? Live streaming tours of your business, office or store can be a great way to showcase what you have to offer, once you are open again.

The Cincinnati Zoo has been crushing this. They have done a live “safari” each day, highlighting a different animal and answering questions. They have been able to bring awareness to what they have to offer, create interest to visiting the Zoo when it reopens, they are offering kids something educational each day and they have also been raising money by having a donate now button active during the live events, raising thousands of dollars each day.

Another example, is if you are a gathering destination for events, streaming your events live. This could be for your local church services, classes or concerts. These can provide education as well as entertain.

You could also feature your staff. Pick a different person each day to highlight, let them stream from their new “office” and share a little more about what it is they do.

Using this time to entertain your followers is also a great idea. Post fun distractions and do at home ideas. You can feature some of your products in use in a fun at home way, or just post beautiful photos from your outdoor surroundings. I think it is important to not be encouraging people to go out into social situations, but to bring the beauty around us to a place we can all see it online.

Share creative cooking ideas, recipes, craft or home improvements. Whatever you can think of that can be done at home and can entertain your audience!

Another option is to use this time to make some how to videos/demos. Show your customers how to use a product, your website or mobile app.

Creating step by step guides for kids and adults are always appreciated and can be used over and over. Plus any content that can be shared with kids is GREATLY appreciated by all those parents trying to work from home!

Let’s Make Art does this with their tutorials. They show you step by step how to create something amazing, using products they sell. This has been a huge hit in our home!

When in doubt posting about self care is always an option. Sharing ways to workout at home, healthy meal ideas, free videos, hygiene tips, sharing positive vibes with others and offering support any way you can.

These are just a few ideas to help you get started. Share your ideas below, let’s help each other brainstorm!
